If you think the concept of
multi-tasking is overrated, don't tell it to the guys who developed the Gerber
Recon. Because this long-awaited Gerber L.E.D format lets you choose from four
different colours of light, depending on your needs of the moment.
The official name for this proprietary technology is D.I.A.L.™, which stands for
Diode Illumination Adjustable Lens. Basically, this new design lets you dial in
the colour that'll serve you best: White for general situations, red for
preserving night vision, blue for identifying fluids, and green for map reading.
Turn the base clockwise for ON and anti-clockwise for OFF you can also create a
momentary switch by starting with the torch switched ON. Slowly turn the base
anti-clockwise until the light goes off. Do not turn the base any further than
is required to extinguish the light. Then press the base. You will find that the
light illuminates as long as pressure is applied and extinguishes immediately
pressure is removed.
A unique and very usual feature is that you can select the red filter in total
darkness by touch. This prevents accidentally showing a white light in tactical
conditions. This is achieved because there is a flat face on the edge of the
revolving filter ring at the front of the torch. When the filter ring is turned
until this flat face matches up to a similar flat surface on the torch body the
red filter is engaged. This is easily identified with the finger tip.
Many torches offer a red filter. Few offer instant selection of four different
colours by turning the front 'dial' through 90 degrees, so no loose filters to
attach or loose .This is the ultimate small hand torch for military use.
Made from Anodized Aircraft Aluminium It weighs just 2.6 ounces. Yet it delivers
a military ton of task-specific light, right when you need it. Furthermore,
LED's - light emitting diodes can also take a massive amount of punishment. They
do not burn out or fail like conventional torch bulbs. LED's are less vulnerable
to impact damage if you drop the torch. LED's have a lifespan of 100,000 hours
[11 years].
It's all powered by one AA battery—you can anticipate long battery life—which
come with the Gerber Recon.
Water resistant 'O' ring seals, pocket/belt clip and a lanyard hole.
