The Wolverine was first launched in 2012 after an unprecedented seven-year development program. Five years on Daystate have ‘refreshed’ their design and the updated Wolverine 2 was shown for the first time at the Las Vegas Shot show.
Almost every part of these rifles has had some small and subtle improvements made to what has already proven to be a successful and reliable design. Accuracy is a given with any Daystate rifle, but the company is keen to build on this wherever possible.
Internally there is a new core valve assembly (copied from their Pulsar and Renegade rifles), which improves airflow for a much larger shot count as well as making the rifle easier to service. There have also been Improvements incorporated into the latest batches of the match-grade German Walther barrels as well.
Externally there is a completely new stock from maestro Gary Canes’ Techwood Studio. It has been designed in conjunction with the chief designer of Minelli, in Italy and it incorporates the 3D butt pad used on the Pulsar to add a new level of adjustability. The Wolverine 2 is also slightly shorter than the original version and the centre of gravity has moved rearwards for a better balance. There have also been changes to the breech block design that gives it a more familiar look.
In all a superb range of upgrades to a gun that was already a delight to shoot.
