The Pulsar Challenger GS 1x20 is a Gen 1+, image intensifying night vision device with a number of applications. It can be used as a night vision attachment for a riflescope, night vision monocular or night vision goggles (if set up on a Head Mount).
This kit includes a Tracer infra red (IR) illuminator and the rifle scope fitting adaptor so it can be attached to the rear of most scopes, converting them easily into a Night Vision (NV) unit. The Challenger simply clips on and sees what your scope sees without the need to re-zero your rifle. It also allows you to keep your head in a normal shooting position (albeit a little further back) rather than a 'heads up' as some alternative systems do. This set up also doesn't throw any light out of an exposed screen unit as some 'heads up' systems can.
N.B. the scope that you are fitting it to, must have parallax adjustment, so that when you add the NV unit, it can be focussed correctly.
When used with the Tracer IR torch the Pulsar Challenger will have a effective spotting range for quarry identification in excess of 70 meters (depending on conditions). This modestly priced kit is ideal for close range pest control such as rats an rabbits with an air rifle or .22 rimfire. The effective range can be extended with a stronger IR torch such as the Tracer F900 IR, which is excellent.
When attached to a rifle scope the Challenger will extend the length of your scope by 143mm however there is no eye relief required after that. When used with the adaptor and Tracer IR torch the combined weight is just 520g including batteries.
At the core of the Challenger GS 1x20 is the unique combination of specially designed optics and the CF-Super Image Intensifier tube. This ensures the highest edge-to-edge resolution and a clear, distortion-free and geometrically precise image across the entire field of view. The Challenger GS 1x20 is equipped with a wide-angled short range infra red illuminator and it is hermetically sealed which enables use in inclement weather such as fog or a heavy shower.
N.B the image intensifier tube can be damaged if used in daylight without the protective lens cover on or directed at a strong light source during night time operation.
